Chapter One - A Rebellious Elemental
"So what makes an Elemental? The easiest way to spot most of these supernatural creatures is the sign on its stomach. Each one has the same sign somewhere on its body, and it's in a ancient language and written in an even older font. When people of the opposite gender see these they immediately want to become its lover, and only Elementals' can resist the power of the symbol. Unfortunately, most Elementals' use this to get a boy or girl for the night, and will break their one night stand's heart the next day. In other language, most of them are whores and should be approached carefully unless you want to feel your heart in pieces the next day.
All Elementals' have inherited Ice's gene of having long hair, but the only hair pieces allowed are coloured in the same shade (or similar) as its eyes, or white, grey or black. The same scheme goes with all of its clothes, or it turns into dust which is the most painful thing anyone has to go through, including starving to death or having a red hot poker down your throat. The young Elemental above is Raven Twilight - one of the most famous Elementals ever to have lived, but her death was a mystery, and one of the most talked-about topics in the world of the Elemental - is a prime example of an Elemental. Her hair is tied so it doesn't reach her waist, but as you can see her main colour is pink.
As you can see, she is a very beautiful girl, with skin almost too flawless to be, well, human. Then again, she isn't human - not entirely. After all, every Elemental has a bit of the mystery woman Life had children with, and every one also has the dazzling looks of Ice, Fire, Earth and Water. She also has names similar to them - every single Elemental has a name that reflects nature in some way, whether it's Rock or Sparrow or Oasis or Ruby, and each one has an eye colour which is different, haunting, and can be dangerous when in possession of an evil Elemental. Why? Let's take a closer look.
Here are Raven's eyes - light pink and quite pretty once you get over the shock of seeing pink eyes which still look amazing even though her eyebrows need trimming. However, the eyes of an Elemental can hypnotise people, and quite obviously as well - the wide eyes, forgetfulness, and everything else all in the victim. Nearly all Elementals keep their eyes under control for none of them enjoy having that much power over someone (even if they do use the symbol to seduce others), but there have been a few cases of the power used for evil. The most famous cases are Grass Sunshine, who used his eyes to collect an army to attack Twinbrook, and Sapphire Stone, who hypnotised humans into slaves, and was discovered thirty years later with a basement full of hundreds of people, all with the same blank look in their eyes, some dead.
This is the body of Raven and, more to the point, her clothes. As you can see, she is only wearing pink, black and white - the colours unique to her. Every Elemental can wear greys, silvers, white and black, and their natural eye colour, but no more other colours."
I sigh gently and put down my copy of The Basics of Elementals book, rubbing my neck where I've been shaking it at the stereotypes and not wanting to read the last section. Getting up off the chair, I slip my feet into my chunky shoes and tie up the red laces, wishing they could be some other colour. Yes, I'm an Elemental whose name is Sky Midnight, and my natural eye colour is red so I physically can't wear any other proper colour, but I'm not like most Elementals and I try to rebel as much as possible.
This is what I look like. I've trimmed my hair and tie it into a plait every morning, otherwise it's quite long and gets in the way while I'm writing. My symbol is on my back near the bottom of my spine, but I very much hate the stereotype that we all sleep around just because we have an advantage. Lots do, I'm not denying that, but I don't enjoy flirting and I feel like it's the same as using my eyes to get them into bed, which is the one thing I hate the most. Clothing should either be slutty or elegant on an Elemental, so I dress in a short dress with chains for a necklace, big heeled high heeled ankle boots, and tights with gaps in them (Jesus, I don't know what they're called, anyone can tell me if they want!) to rebel. The only thing that really screams Elemental! at me is my face, which people tell me looks a lot like Water's used to look like. I can only thank them.
I regularly receive brown contact lenses, and they're quite thick so there's no chance of me using my red eyes' powers by accident. My eye makeup is barely there, apart from the eye-liner, but my lipstick is quite vibrant and it directs people's attention away from my eyes. I'll try anything to divert the attention.
As for personality? Well, I enjoy spending time alone, working on mystery novels to do with Elementals. I'm currently working on a case of the death of Raven Twilight, and whether she was murdered or committed suicide, which is sadly a common death among Elementals because they can't cope with the stress of having to live your life only partly human. Believe me, it can get pretty stressy - the humans in high school enjoy bullying us because we're very different, and I was close to that once. However, I then found writing, where I can temporarily forget a few of my troubles. Main thing though? I don't sleep around. I enjoy my solitude and I find the whole thing revolting.
So what does the last part of the book say? It's a part I don't really like to read, but it says:
"So what happens to those who don't fit the criteria for a typical Elemental? Well, there are armies out there, like secret policemen with black uniforms, black hair, black eyes and pale skin, who have been trained to believe that the rebels aren't worthy of living, so they track them down and shoot them, or keep them as slaves until they die of exhaustion."
They are good at tracking people down as well. I used to have nine friends who were like me - Elemental, but not what you'd expect. However, most had been tracked down and killed or worse, so now I only have one friend who I check up on every day. I can't help but grin when I hear her voice, simply because it means they haven't got to her yet.
I worry every day because I know I'm on a killing list of several creatures with black uniforms, pale skin, black hair and black eyes.
Note:
This is Sky, and I loves her haha! If you want I'll put her on the exchange. Now, in terms of frequent updates, I'm not sure how it's going to work because I have school work and homework to do, and I'm in a year where exams are quite frequent so Ill need to study as well. I've just had some science exams, so I can play on Sims for a bit, but I'll let you know when there'll be a slight hiatus.
